Eyecup issue

I tried to put the DK-5 eyepiece cover on my Nikon D3000 tonight since I was taking some photos of stars and didn't want any unwanted light to come in through the viewfinder. I was obviously stupid enough to pull the eyecup rubber off the camera without reading the instructions in the manual. I was supposed to slide it upwards but instead pried the rubber off the damn thing, thus ripping the rubber threads which hold the rubber to the plastic frame. Where can I get a replacement eyepiece thing with the rubber? thank goodness I didn't do any damage to the camera body itself.

Sorry to hear of your problem. I've just done a quick web search (DK-5) and found several for sale even one on ebay ,please note I'm not recommending it though. They seem to cost around 4.49 -5.00 UK assuming we are talking about the same thing. The rubber Eyecap that fits to the bodyview finder for you to look through is a DK 20 according to Nikon UKs site, also seems to be readily available for about 8.50 on the web. I dont think you will have a problem getting a replacement.
Good luck anyway

Amazon usually carries them as well as many camera shops that
deal with Nikon... ;)

I bought a DK-5 cap off eBay for $12. It's a genuine item from overseas, but I've been using it for months and it works beautifully!
