I moved your post to its own thread in the nikon dslr forum, where you should be able to get more help.

The Nikon SB600AF Flash is always a good choice, and a great value at around 220$.

I agree, the SB600 is a wonderful flash unit (Nikon has the best flash system in the market which as a Canon user is a pain LOL).

I also asked this question sometime back...... I am in no way an expert, but love to take photos... the sb600 works great! This was suggested to me as well.

I use both the SB-600 and the SB-800. The SB-600 which I picked up at a bargain price over on E-Bay is used much more often as it is a more convenient size and power output. You slide it on and you are ready to go.

Have a good day.

Another vote for the SB600. It's a good flash. It also comes with a case that has belt loops to make it easy to carry around with you on a belt (for those of us that wear belts) if you don't want to leave it mounted on the camera.

I have just upgraded from a Sunpak PF30X to the Nikon SB-600.

The SB-600 is a complete dream and so easy to use, even the Nikon user manual is easy to understand for a change. Had it working off camera in less than 5 minutes.
