How does the Nikon D7000 stack up against the Canon 60D?
They're similar in price range. Is it worth the extra money? |

They are actually about the same. Canon on couple of review site test has the faster AF system. As both use 9 cross type AF points. The canon can shoot allot longer before the buffer lag hits. The nikon you might get 14-20 photos in 6fps in large jpeg before shutter lag. Canon is still the better HD camera. The nikon has a metal back and base skin not all metal like the d300. The nikon has micro adjustments. Both have wireless flash. Canon had a tilt lcd that works great on a tripod.
Right now there are reports of the d7000 with a back focus problem and hot pixels. No reported problems with the canon currently. So they stack up very well. Only you can decide it the 920 canon body or the 1150 nikon is for you.

Thank you. You have a way of making things crystal clear for me.
I'm only partial to the Nikon because of Abbie Warnock's work. BUT.. the last time I checked she was using a Nikon D200. However, from what I know, I am almost completely decided on the Canon 60D. THANK YOU for all your help!!! |

Acording to DxOMark.com, the Nikon has slightly less noise and, at low ISO settings, a lot more dynamic range.

Yeah, but those are raw results. Canon never does well on the dxo test. I would take them as just nice know. The sony sensor that nikon uses on the d7000 is a really good one.

Just want to share, hot pixel problem on D7000 has been resolved I believe. Mine came with 3 to 4 hot pixels (both video and still) before I updated the firmware to 1.11 (hot pixel fix).
Hot pixels are gone (no visible hot pixel at least)

I was already a Nikon guy, but my new D7000 has preformed flawlessly, perfect metering, fantastic High ISO, fast focusing, amazing results. Taken yesterday, right out of the camera. Just cropped a little for composition.
I just had Costco blow this up to 16x20 and it looks fantastic. ![]() You probably can't go wrong with either camera. Cheers, Steve P.S. Love the JRT in your avatar. Looks a lot like mine.

The canon has articulating screen. if that appeals, the choice is clear.
