I have a d40x and though I'm shooting on manual and setting the iso to ISO 100 when I check my exif data the iso is not set on 100 it changes by itself sometimes it 125 and sometimes its 250 and so on. I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to happen on manual mode. I DO NOT HAVE THE ISO SET ON AUTO. help

If it's anything like the D300, manual settings only locks in the aperture and shutter speed...The ISO, having been set to "auto ISO", will continue to vary according to the situation. There should be a menu structure to disable the auto ISO, and then you REALLY get to be in control...

Thanks I think that may have done it. In the menus it was set at auto iso on. I appreciate it.
