Please note I am / was a Canon guy until I got my D300.
I went into a local camera store to buy a remote cord for my D300. The store owner asked me what I thought of myD300. I responded without hesitation "It is a photographer's camera" My response just 'popped' out of me, I guess this was my gut felling about my D300. So, there is not much I can add to my 'review'. Without dissing any other camera, I can state my D300 is a camera made for photographers ( and very likely designed by photographers ). I have decided to trade all my Canon gear. Regards, Nicholas |

All of my Canon gear is being sent to my kids, now that I have a D300 in hand. it is a dream camera. This is one of my first real shots with it, and I expect to do nothing but improve on it.

Thanks, Nicholas, I appreiate it! ISO 200, 2.8, 1/200th had held, spot meter, with a 60mm (90mm effective) lens. Spot meter is fast to lock on, and hold.
Here is another one from the same shoot. |

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I thought there was no 1.5 multiplier with a full frame sensor. With full frame won't a 60mm lens be just 60mm's? |

I do not know the answer to that question.. This is a film lens, so I thought it applied. The new DX lenses I know are designed to take advantage of the full frame sensor. Sorry I cannot answer this better. Can someone else please help out?

Hi All,
The D300 is not a full frame sensor. A 1.5 crop factor aplies to labled 'MM' focal lengths. My 18-200 VR povides me with a 35mm film equivalent of +- 25.7mm-300mm. So the 60mm prime would be a 90mm prime on the D300. Regards, Nicholas |

Not awake, and not thinking yet.... One should never answer questions in such a state! |
