Optically, the 50 f/1.8 is the best of the bunch and is so cheap, it's a no brainer not to own it. The next best is probably the sigma 18-125...provides the wide end and moderate tele length. If you're looking for sharp images, especially at the extremes of the zoom ranges, the cheaper super zooms should be avoided...they are notorius for distortion and softness at extremes. For you're puposes though, the two kit lenses (18-55, 55-200) are not bad lenses and are easily as good as any of the lenses you mention (except the nifty 50mm). All of these lenses will need to be stopped down a little to achieve tack sharp images.

Buying a new DSLR soon ..
Should I pass the D50 for the Pentax *ist DL2 or Wait till Canon wil anounce its new DSLR camera this month?? |
