I saw the moon shot with the Mt.Rainier and it is beautiful.
If you are planning to shoot the MW make sure it is a moonless night. This one was shoot at The Grand Canyon. ![]() |

Thanks for the nice comments Marcelo. I sure enjoy looking at your pictures.
I've had some Rufous Hummingbirds coming through my backyard on their 2,500 mile migration from Mexico to their breeding grounds in Canada. The males don't stay very long, just refuel and move on in their rush to get to Canada so they're hard to get, just can't sit and wait for them, got to get them when they show up. Not much luck getting flight shots... and it's been mostly overcast. The flight one was on a sunny day and closer, the other four were taken yesterday on cloudy day.

Love the colors and detail, are you using one or two flashes? on board or off camera? |

I was using an SB-800 flash on D500 w/Nikkor 200-500mm VR. I was closer to the flight shot, so flash worked well, the other four shots were 30 feet away, so flash only worked for eye catchlight. Had to use CS6 to bring out left side that was in shade. The flight one was on a sunny day last week and closer, the other four were taken yesterday on cloudy day.
