Nikon Customer Service in the USA seems like it has a bad reputation. Does anyone have any recent experience with it? I read about excellent service from Canon. Both being Japanese companies that are generally known for meeting or exceeding customer expectations, it is unusual to hear about Nikon's performance (at least in the US).

Canon has a local office (Hawaii) and their service is excellent (our photo group has used their service). Nikon's closest service facility is Los Angeles. I fell and damaged my D800 and 17-35 l last November and sent them in. Repairs took approx 3 weeks. The lens has a problem and will be repaired under 6 month service warranty. I would rate their service as "good". The local Canon office also has a gallery that you can sign up for to exhibit your work, which is nice.

Never had any problem with my gear with exception of my D600 and the famous oil on the sensor issue.
I sent my camera to Melville in Long Island and they replaced it for a brand new D610. It is my only experience with Nikon client service. Marcelo |
