D700 - What is the average life in shutter count?

TCav May 3, 2014 4:22 PM

They don't publish the AVERAGE life of a shutter. Nobody does.

What they will sometimes publish is the EXPECTED life of a shutter. The best info I can find is that the D700 shutter is rated at 150,000 actuations, but it's important to understand that it's not an average, it's the life expectancy. That is, some small percentage (usually 5% or 10%) are expected to fail before then, but the vast majority are expected to work fine well past that number.

G'day mate

And in today's electronic world - it's very likely that something else will fail first -
It may be the on/off switch or the OKay button on the back panel or ... one of the many others

And then you get into the world of 'yes it can be repaired, except that it's uneconomic to do so'
