So I am fairly new at this and I just bought a D50. I have been reading a ton lately and am already trying to decide on a 2nd lense. The 18-55 came with my D50 but I am trying to decide on which zoom lens to go with.

55-200 or 70-300...

I want to stick with the Nikon and would like to get the metal mount/bracket if possible. I know from reading that some come with plastic mounts.

So...any suggestions from those with a D50 as to which lense would be the better one to go with? I do a lot of shooting outdoors during the winter...lots of action shots on snowmobile, jumps, drops...that kind of thing.

Any ideas/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I also have the Nikon 50mm f1.8 lens. It is very sharp. I use it mostly for inside candid shots in low light situations. I picked mine up at the local B&M shop for $100.
