Most people going out to purchase a DSLR are retarded.

They say "I want a 6 or 10 or 12 megapixel camera." Not understanding what the process is for creating or capturing a great image. My suggestion would be for you to handle all the camera's before you buy. Let your sense's tell you which one feels the best. Once you feel the right camera, buy it. It doesn't have to be Nikon, Pentax, Leica etc., it could be ACME brand. If the feel is right, and you can afford the product, and it's system will allow you to create the images you desire. Then you have the "right" camera.

The megapixels are incidental. It's very similar to the bravado race of car engines. If the analogy were true we would all go shopping for the V12 or V16, but the most popular and bet engines are Honda 4's.

So, make a decision on how much you can afford and go feel up a bunch of bodies, camera bodies that is. Who knows you might end up with a 12MP DSLR, maybet not.

Just don't go shopping acting like a retard.

I'm not sure how this relates to the original post, and the use of the word "retard" is a bit harsh, and definitely offensive. Uninformed, maybe, retarded no.
