I just bought a new d200, charged the batterys, installed the card, clicked it on and nothing. I bought 2 batterys and charged and tried both of them and the camera wont start. Any Ideas. Also when I attach a lens to it it isnt clear , like a grey plastic is covering something. could it be the shutter is stuck of the mirror?

Take it back to where you bought it. It should be replaced. Battery is charged and the switch is turned on it should start up. It should start even if no CF card is installed. The battery will only go in one way so that is not the problem. If you bought it used you will probably have to call Nikon to get it repaired.

Hi Bill,

Good to hear that it will be replaced. B&H is a rock solid good mail order company to deal with. I'm sure you will have the replacement soon.

Absolutely peachy. I am waiting on my D200 from B and H. I can see it now. Charge the battery, interesting, already charged. Put the battery in and click on, it doesn't go on. My goodness, it is your camera that they sent to me. Oh I hope it is just a bad dream. I can't wait for my D200 and the wonderful hrs of fun!

I had similar experience with D80. It worked fine for the first two months and then wouldn't fire up--even with freshly-charged batteries, 2-button reset and side panel reset. Problem happened shortly after I started using new Nikon 70-300 VR lens but I am not sure if that had anything to do with camera failure. Body now on its way back to Nikon repair.

B&H is awesome. You pay a little more sometimes but it pays off big when something like this happens.
