I ordered a Nikon D80. I need to find a way to trigger it wireless from 50-150 feet.

I think you could buy the wired remote and either take it apart or just cut the wire and solder in a 150 foot section of telephone wire or something similar to extend it's reach. Heavyer wire may also be necessary due to the length. One of those wireless extenders and the IR remote is also a posibility. I think they make them for your house so you can use your IR romote from another room. I don't know how two extenders connect though, I think they use the houses wiring. Why so far from the camera?

I'm involved with competition handgun shooting. Due to safety, no one is allowed in front of the firing line. Therefore most photos are taken from behind or the side. I thought I could get a more interesting shot with the camera in front of the shooter. Last year I tried a wired remote and people kept stumbling over the wires.

Do you know anything about the Pocket Wizard?

Are you taking pictures of the shooter or the targets? The IR remote would work for the shooter pictures, and you wouldn't have to get the camera that far away. I can't hit much past 25 yards with a handgun, but love the bench rest rifles at longer ranges. I can see what you mean about the wires, I never look at my feet either.
