halohase,

I currently have an Olympus 3040Z which I'm using with Linux. The cool thing about Linux is that you don't need a special driver in order for your digital camera to work. All I needed to do was load the main usb modules and the usb-storage module. Linux view the camera as a storage device so after you turn the camera on all you need to do is mount it. On my PC it comes up as a SCSI device and the memory card is mount as a vfat filesystem but yours might be different. If you need more information on setting it up let me know or search the web. I've also been using GIMP and Corel Photo Paint 9 for Linux to edit my pictures and it works great.
