I just purchased a Nikon D50 and i have a couple of questions...

1. Like most of the cameras u can see what u going to photograph through the screen back in the back but im wondering if u can do the same with the D50.

2. Where i can get the 70-300mm at a good price, around $100-$150.

3. How do i take pics with no flash? i was trying to get a pic of me on the mirror and the flash always comes on.

Thanks and i hope someone can help me

Take some time and read your manual.

1. No. The D50 does not have a live view screen. You look at(compose) your shot through the view finder.

2. You can look on ebay, but for that price the lens will not be that great.

3. If you are using Auto mode then the camera detects the light and if it is low the flash will pop up. You can try using manual mode, but you may need a tripod and use the timer for a self-portrait.

I assume you're in the US.

You can get the 70-300G at B&H for $140. But if you can stretch your budget a little, the Sigma APO has gotten a better review. Here are their websites:

If you're new to DSLR, checkout this sites:

Good Luck!

On the left side of the D50 there is a button with the flash symbol next to it, press this and rotate the command dial while looking at the lcd screen on top of the camera. The flash symbol on the lcd will rotate between Auto on, Auto with redeye reduction, and flash off. This is covered on page 18 of the D50 manual.
