In the manual it lists up to a 4 GB SD card (which I am currently using) but now I see many 8Gb cards avaiable and am wondering if anyone has tried one yet... it wouldn't be the first time a card larger than that in the manual works in a digital camera but 8GB cards aren't cheap so I'd rather find out first. I would say at the time of releasing the D80, there was no such item as an 8GB card...

For those of you interested to know... I found out that the Transcend 8GB SDHC card will work in the D80....

I went over to the shop. The girl there said I should be careful and to find out if the camera was compatible with HC (as in SD"HC") so I bought a Transcend 4GB-150x card instead, then when I got home I went searching and found this in but a few minutes. Now, what I should have done was to find out BEFORE I went to the shop - Rigggghhhhtttt..!!!!

Oh well - Lesson learn't...

You may want to check resselleratings.com before you buy anywhere online - my favorite for computer stuff is newegg.com

I am still amazed at how inexpensive an 8 gig card is! -just 3 months ago i paid about $45 for a 1 gig card!!!

The cost of memory keeps getting cheaper and cheaper. The price you paid for your 1 gig card seems a bit high, even for 3 months ago.

I bought an HP 8 GB SD card from Staples about a month ago for $20. It works great in my D40.

Just to share a story with you. About three years ago, one of the internet vendors was having a special on the 2 gig Kingston SD cards. With a rebate, it was $9.95, which was good back then. They also had a special if you signed up and did Google checkout, they paid you $10.00. It was also free shipping. To make a long story, I made a nickel and got a nice card to boot - Bruce

PS - I have since bought 2 more of the 2 gig cards, so have 3 now for my D80. That's close to 500 RAW pictures, which is a lot for me. I'm one who doesn't like to put all his marbles on one card, just in case.
