Theinternal flash on my daughter's D40 (less than 6 months old) has stopped working. It still pops up but there's no "flash ready" indicator and when the shutter is pressed a loudish "click" (not the shutter)is heard then the photo is taken normally but w/o the benefit of the flash. I've looked over the menu in case she somehow deactivated the flash but I can't find anything applicable. Is this something minor that I can correct myself (ie: something in the menu I've missed?) or is it time to send it back under warranty? Thx!...

Try looking for a flash metering setting and see if it's set to TTL or Manual. Try both settings.
If the flash doesnt work in either setting, then contact nikon.

Thx! Already tried switching between TTL & Manual but still get the same results. Oh well, it's off to Nikon!...
