My daughter's D50 didn't have a screen protector on it when bought about a year ago. On the other hand my D80 did have one straight out of the box and she'd like one of these rather than a piece of plastic fim.

When I've scoured the internet for a D50 screen protector, all I seem to come up with are references to the D70. Is this compatible with the D50?

Nikon does not make a screen protector for the D50. I believe there may be a 3rd party protector out there, but I know of none off hand. The thin PDA plastic screen protectors which are available anywhere and usually quite cheap, do work pretty well and is what I use on my D50. The heavy plastic one that comes with the D80 (and D70s, and others) is nice, but I don't find it to be a huge advantage over the plastic film.

Hi Ron,
I ran into this when I owned the D50 as well. There are in fact many third party products designed for this purpose. The one I chose was a flip up lcd cover from Hoodman. It also allowed for better viewing of the lcd in bright conditions. It and similar products can be found in most camera shops or online. Here's a link to the one I went with. Good luck!
