Hello All,

My friend brought out his old MF 50-300 f4.5 Nikkor zoom lens, 92mm filter thread, real big and heavy. He is a long time Nikon guy and wanted to see if it would work on my D300.

NOTE: Before attaching it to my camera, I did research and found that any Nikon lens with the smallest aperture ( largest # ) printed in Orange on the barrel is an A-i or A-is lens and can be safely used ( always confirm thatthe old lens you try on your camera is compatible or you could ruin the mirror hosing, etc., see the Nikonians on their web site).

I only had my monopod with me, so I steadied it against a tree.

Three shots follow, from RAW. 1) original shot and two crops of the squirrel.

Check out the whiskers, I think this is simply amazing.

Your comments are very welcome,

Nicholas

To me, what this says about this lens and about the D300's sensor is amazing.

Hope you find this interesting,

Nicholas
