YesterdayI went to a shop to try the D40x and the E 510 but they had just sold their last e510, soI tried the d40x. I asked the salesman ifI could set the Max ISO and the Minimum shutter speed and he said no.He also called over a more knowledgable guy who agreed .Now in looking at reviews of the d40x recently I thought I had seen somewhere that it was possible to specify a max iso and min shutter speed and lockthem in somehow. So I wonder in any of you guys can tell me.I have tried finding the review but no luck.:?

Thanks

It is possible. Custom function 10, I believe. I'll add that I use a D80, and that this is one incredibly useful feature.

I use it a lot with my D40 and am pretty sure that the D40x has the same function. This function combined with the Nikon flash (I have a SB-600) makes it very easy to take good pictures in dark situations at quite long range - most ISO1600 images are still very acceptable to me. You can of course set a lower Max ISO setting.

I have now ordered a D40x from a different shop and you are right ,it is a feature that it shares with the D80I am glad to say. The original shop told me if I wanted that featureI would need to get the D80. Anyway another lesson learnt "dont take too much notice of retailers". Thanks for all the replies and help guys.
