He landed on the branch and flew off just as quickly.

18-200 VR, two images:

Both are major crops of original images.

Nick,

The first photo is quite nice. It would be better if the branches near its head were out of focus. Then the hawk would stand out from the background better.

The second image shows action, but is less esthetically pleasing because of the building in the background.

I'm thinking of getting a D300, but I'm going to wait until after PMA to see what Nikon may announce for a D90.

D90? One thing for sure digital has brought to photography..there is always something new to look forward to.
