My SB-600 with batteries is 410g weight. When I put it on the D40x becames very unstable in the hand. Actualy, D40x is very short, handgrip can handle only three fingers. Do you have any idea to help. Is there any handler or sim?
Thanks.

I konw how you feel. Try shooting w/ a 50 1.8 on there. lol
I usually shoot w/ a 70-300vr on my D40 w/ a sb600.
You just kinda deal with it.

There's a third party vertical grip.

You won't like the SB-800...
