'100%' crop of the final 5x7 300 dpi image.

The rendition of the water amazes me.

Having just received the same setup, (D300 and 18-200Vr lens) I would be interested as to how close were you to the mallard and the exif.

PS, very nice capture.

He was about 10 feet ( +- 3 meters ). I walked parallelto him as he swam by the edge of the lake. Mrs. to follow.

f5.6, 1/250 sec, ISO L1 Lowest.

Built-in flash.
