Did you see that new 70-200 f/2.8 with HSM in 4/3 mount?
-> That's equivalent to a 140-400 f/2.8 and handholdable(unheard of) in an ultrasonic E3

i would be interested in the 150-500 on a 4/3 mount. The oly system is going dirt cheap..I am a bit cautious about jumping into olympus at this moment.

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"its a great move by sigma to bring out the 70-200 for the olympus. E-510 with IS in camera makes that 140-400F2.8 a IS enabled fast lens. And we know the 70200 Performs beautifully in almost all mounts. and knowing the size of the e-510 sensor it would be pretty interesting to see how it perfoms. With a 1.4x tele we already have a fast 500mm lens(IS).

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"but as i said i will take a 50-500 or the new 150-500 over the 70-200 jus for the reach. i hope the 150-500 takes a 1.4x tele atleast . I find the 500mm with the 1.4x tight in reach(effective 900mm or 1100 in 40D)...so a 150-500 on a 4/3 starts at 1000mm and with just the 1.4x i can reach 1400mm with minimal effect to final image quality. For most of the times i end up shooting still birds. Honestly i wont mind even manual focus for still birds let alone tracking etc.

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"I wish they release a 4.3 mount 150-500..i would def give the olym a try with this lens

NHL ~

This is a very nice capture, too. I have never tried 'birding' before, but methinks that I most definitely will, after the weather warms up a bit (I don't like the cold - at all :-)).

This is a very good shot (IMO).

Blessings,
Nathan

Thank You!

For birding my "walk-around" lens tends to be slightly different: http://www.pbase.com/nhl/sigma_50_500

I don't like the cold either... :lol::-):G
