Hi Everyone - Iown a Pentax DL and normally post in the Pentax forum. My daughter just bought a D300 Nikon and we took it out the first time last weekend. We did some shooting on a tripod and I showed herhow to use the two second timer to take a steadier shot.

On my Pentax it does a mirror lock-up when you use the two second timer to eliminate any vibration. I couldn't figure out how toset this upon the D300. Can anyone help me on this andI will relay the message to my daughter.

I will say the D300 is a pretty impressive camera compared to my older Pentax, which is only a 6 mp. It also has a much larger menu of options you can do. I was impressed with it- Bruce

Exposure Delay mode (d9) - Turn it to ON
-> This will lock-up the mirror in any mode before exposure including the timer...

There is a dial on the very top of the camera on the left side as you hold it to shoot. It is around the button that has the ISO. Rotate it until it says MU for mirror up. Use your manual and look up that button in the diagram if you have any problems. You can also buy a release cable for $13 from procameragear.com.
