Thanks for the link and review. I wasn't aware the D90 does HD video:

Movie Modes
Movie with sound
HD 1280x720 (24fps), VGA 640x480 (24fps), QVGA 320x240 (24fps)

Is the autofocus terrible while shooting video as Ken Rockwell says in his review ?

I've been wanting a D90 with 18-200 VR lens before we go to Yellowstone this Summer.

im pretty sure you cant use autofocus in movie mode, so if kens focus is off its his own fault because its manual focus only

That is correct for the D5000 also.
Does the new D300s have the autofocus video?

From the Nikon D300s User's Manual, page 58:

"Focus can be adjusted during shooting using contrast-detect AF."

But on page 59:

"In handheld mode, autofocus is not available after recording begins."

It's actually 640x424 - I really didn't understand this SUB-DVD resolution. If concerned to aspect ratio, they should provide 720x480 as the mid-quality option... (it's still 2:3 ratio) At least would allow us to have a full resolution DVD and crop if necessary to have 640x480.

And for HD (1280x720) there is the annoying limit of 5 minutes... (and 20 minutes for the other resolutions)

Ah, the smallest is 320x216 pixels.

The rate would be better to 29.97 too... So video in this camera (and also in D5000) is marginal - just an acessory if you need to record something on the fly...

I didn't buy this camera for the video anyways. I have yet to try it.

Yep. Haven't even tried to figure out how to start the video on it.
