May I ask what settings you use? I too have a D40 and it's a far cry from the D100 I had. The colors are much better, but I'm having trouble with deciding what setting to put it on. I basically use what Ken Rockwell suggested.

Default Great shots!

I am sitting here and looking through the forum and find these great shots.
This must be the proof that double digit megapixels are not the real answer to getting great pictures. I have two D40's and a D60 myself. I have had a DSLR for just over two weeks, but in my youth (for more than 25 years ago) I had several pentax camera with loads of optics and equipment. The good feeling is coming back. I have take more than 1000 shots during the two weeks with my D60 and bought two defective D40's and repaired them in the same time.
I plan to sell one D40 and invest in more glass and a real good tripod.
I am inspired by your photos, so please keep them coming.

Very nice. A D40 is very capable. I miss mine.

Please tell your settings and what lens(s) you used.

What lens were you using for these amazingly clear and crisp images?
