Default Dead D40x. Not quite dead, but close.

I tried to update firmware on my D40x and it crashed during update. Now I can't get it to start.
If I try the emergency firmware update, it just blinks the green light about a blink per second.
Emergency update is done by copying the firmware file to the memory card, insert the card, press and hold preview zoom and ok button while the camera is switched on.
If I try this, the green light blinks while I keep the buttons pressed, but stops when I release them.
This leads me to thinking that I need both the A and B firmware, but I cant find the B firmware. It may happen that the file must have a special name if this is going to work. Anyone that can shed some light on this?
BTW the camera is out of warranty, so any repair will be costly.

Have you tried Nikon's Technical Support?

US Nikon technical support is not an option. I live on the other side of the big pond.

The firmware upgrade appears to be a single file called A40X0101.bin which upgrades the A firmware only. I assume you've loaded it to the root of the SD card. You could try the UK Nikon tech support +44 (0)330 123 0932

I got hold of both the A and B firmware together with the firmware loader.
All efforts to make it work didn't result in anything.
It seems that the main board is damaged by water.
Ok. So it is a lot of parts then.
I am looking for a D40x or D60 with other problems then.
Broken LCD, worn out shutter etc. All these parts are ok. I just need one with working electronics. Anyone got one?

Yes, I am looking, but it seems that d40x is a rare creature.
I can find totally dead D60 bodies, but that is no more than I have at the moment.
Someday I will find one. I have plenty of time. I have a working D60 and two working D40's at the moment.
I am a bit short on optics, but I will sort that out too when I decide what to buy.
