Default Anybody manage to perform MF in D5000 Movie LV mode on the 230K-pixel-only LCD ???

I find it impossible.

For all my lenses, including the largest aperture 70-200mm f/2.8

you simply cannot tell if the subject is in focus or not

on the low-res 230K-pixel-only LCD

Still picture MF using the optical viewfinder is much better.

I just got a D5000 the other day. So far I haven't really had the chance to play with it much. But the first thing I did was see if I could use my old MF lenses in movie mode. I didn't have any problem at all focusing. I find it a little difficult to MF with my AF kit lens. But that's the mechanics of the lens not the viewing method. If you are not used to MF it easy to over analyze it, constantly turning the ring back and forth. I suggest you practice, start with contrasty subjects.

I mean the resolution of the LCD is too low.

In / Out focus objects do not make much difference on the LCD.

For still picture MF, I am perfectly OK using the viewfinder.

I've never tried video on my D5000. But, when I use live mode to focus macro shots, I always zoom to one less than the max zoom value on the lcd. I can focus fine then. Can you do that with video? Admittedly, you'd have to use Kentucky windage on framing the overall shot, but that shouldn't be too bad.
