Default Sigma 800mm F5.6 APO AF

This is apparently the pre-HFS version of the current Sigma 800. Does anyone have any experience/knowledge of using one with a Nikon D100 ?

There's an older review on a Canon "film" camera though (this lens was released in pre-digital era). It sounds like it's still have the ultrasonic focusing even though the lens doesn't says HSM on it:
