Default Can't find D100 auto off?!

I just got a D100 as a replacement for an E-10. The E-10 had an auto-off feature which shut the camera off after a delay.

I can't find anything in the manual about this type of feature and the camera's top lcd stays on forever. Anyone have any info? Am I missing something here?

It's in the Custom Settings menu:

6. Monitor Off - Time the LCD monitor stays on (10s, 20s, 1m, 5m, 10m)

7. Auto Meter-Off - The time that information is shown on control panel (4, 6, 8, 16 secs, 30 mins.)

Thanks, but I had already found those settings. What is confusing is that the top data lcd stays on if the camera is on. It never shuts off. Doesn't this drain power and what else is still "on"?

What you are talking about is the number of frames remaining - that always stays on, just like the N80 film camera. It is supposed to do that. It tells you at a glance when you pick it up if it's loaded or empty -E- on the top LCD.

No, I'm aware of the number of frames staying on. If you turn the camera on and then leave it on, the lcd will stay on. This includes the number of frames AND a bunch of other stuff (though not the metering, I don't remember exactly what, the camera's at home) try it.

To answer your question. The Nikon D100 does NOT have an Auto Shutoff/Shutdown. If you leave it switched on, it will stay on until the battery runs out.

Sorry for the bad news.

This not bad news, this is a semi-pro camera and as such it is always ready to shoot when turned on. It uses very little current when on, the metering system times out and shuts off until you tap the shutter release. If you want it off, turn the power switch to off
