I tend to stay away from "packages" I looked at the lenses and the lack of an exact part number for the lenses reafirms my beliefs. They Give no starting apature like f2.8, f4.0, f5.6 only the top end f22-f27 thats fine, most lenses go to that. this is probobly what you would get f5.6 , AF way to slow, no auto matrix metering, Even Nikon recomends using a D or G type lens to get all the bells and whistles to work. So sure you get two lenses that might be fine for your shooting taste. But If you want to use all the features that the D-100 offers the Nikons are the way to go or the higher line Sigmas or Tamrons. I would think for that same price you could get the camera and one good lens to get you started. Good luck Amigo.

Thanks for the feedback:

fYI - here is more info on the lenses that I found:
The 28-80mm f3.5-5.6 Macro is a new generation of compact standard zoom lens that retains the same 1:2 (Half Life-size) Tele-macro capabilities of its predecessor. This new lens also incorporates a Helical Focusing system for convenient use of polarizing or graduated filters. This same design also allows for a Perfect Hood to be used.

This lens also utilizes a new optical design, and a ''flare-cut'' aperture, providing even better optical performance. A convenient ''Depth Scale'' is displayed on the lens barrel to help calculate Depth-of-Field. This is one of the the most desirable lens in the 28-80mm category, and includes the hood

'' Another inexpensive lens with impressive results, a fine all-round zoom with quite good close-up performance.''
Popular Photography, January 2001

Sounds good. You'll get two lenses that will get you started, for just a few hundred bucks extra. They will teach you a lot and if you want to sell them on ebay later on and get what you want, fine. Go for it!
