upgrade from D70 to D600
Im thinking of getting the D600 body , i currently have the D70.
Will the lens that came with the D70 AF-S 18-70mm 3.5-4.5 work ok with the D600 til i can get a new lens?
Anythoughts thank you !

Your Nikkor 18-70 is a DX lens, which means that it doesn't project an image large enough to cover the 'Full Frame' sensor in the D600. The D600 will work with it, but it will only use that 24MP sensor to record 10MP images.

Thank you, I'm just getting back into shooting more.
I'm wanting to upgrade, not sure which one to get.

Do you have any other lenses? What are they?

APS-C dSLRs offer similar image quality, are smaller, lighter and cheaper, and lenses for them are smaller, lighter and cheaper as well. Perhaps if the size, weight, and price of the D600 didn't frighten you off, it doesn't matter.

What do you want to do that you cannot do with your current gear? Full frame definitely has some advantages but you pay a premium for them. As Tcav mentioned, it's not always a "wow" difference. For the majority of photos no one will notice a difference if you took the photo with full frame, aps-c or 4/3 sensor.

Full frame will always have some benefits but you're going to pay a premium for it. You need to balance features against your specific requirements. So, what are your specific requirements?

Thank you both for your replies.
Ive had my D70 for 6 years now.
I have a Sigma HSM 70-200mm 2.8D APO.
I used to take alot of sports shots.
I would like a newer camera ,faster, and more megapixels.
Im not a professional at all , just know enough
to be dangerous.
I've done around 5 weddings ( which I don't care much for).
Many many action , senior shots ect.
I appreciate any suggestions.

I agree with kazuya. I'd seriously look at the D7000 as well.

It's worth waiting to see real-world tests of the d600. If you're shooting a lot of sports still you'll want to see if the AF system is indeed the same as d7000 or improved. You'll also want to see what benefit has been made with high ISO performance. If there isn't much improvement in either area, I would agree with the others. But, if you can hold off 2 months you can make a much more informed decision.
