Default Moon @ 36Mpxls

I always wanted to tried this, but since Nikon TC's can't be stacked I went ahead with this mod: http://nikonpages.heymanphotography....mod/index.html

1120mm (400 f/2.8 + 2xTC + 1.4xTC):

1360mm (400 f/2.8 + 2xTC + 1.7xTC):

That is very nice. I'm only using a 2X on a 70 - 200 as of right now.

very clear images indeed.

While I take no issue with making mods to lenses, cameras, etc. as I've done it many a time over the years, I would stress the importance of making sure NO ONE SHOULD FILE DOWN ANY METAL COMPONENT WHILE THE PART IS STILL CONNECTED TO THE LENS. The metal shavings can, not only damage the glass but also get into the camera body wreaking havoc. This is especially true for camera bodies that have an auto cleaning cycle & the cleaning cycle gets activated.

Sorry to sound like this is a rant, but camera bodies are plain too expensive to be lazy.
