Conqueror,

You are on it. I tag along following your trail. I presume you are going to have one as soon as possible??? only based upon your ability to track seemingly everything there is on it. I know you will give an objective review if you do buy...

I have been watching and waiting avidly, at first rolling the drebel over in my mind and then becoming more excited as the D70 gets closer. I haven't done any SLR photography since high school...with Tri-X... We won't say how long ago that was except "KodaChrome" was a hit song that year...

I think I am ready around June or so, after I hear some real reviews..and will probably make the plunge... carefully weighing lenses and other accoutrements...

Default Tomorrow is a good day....

Tomorrow I'm going to Kologne-Koln (Germany). I have something to do over there and I will visit the shop "Foto-Lambertin".

I'm going to buy a Nikon 3200 and a nikon 4200 for my friends.
They are cheaper than Belgium overthere. :?
I called them today and they already have them.

But, the guy knows me and he knows I'm after a D70 and he told me that tomorrow is a Nikon Promotion day I can see and touch the D 70.

I will try my best tomorrow........

There is a guy on DPreview who is practically giving a moment by moment update on his brand new review model of the D70.

Yes, today I touched the new baby: D70.

It looks very professional and simple but a very nice black body. Little smaller than D100.The front and back plate is plastic and the middle front plate which holds the lens is metal. The lens mount is fixed on it
When you hold it you feel it’s plastic but you feel that the body is very strong and not a cheap body. It was not heavy as I expect. Easy to hold and all the buttons etc. they are in the right place, easy to use.
It fits very well in your hands. and you feel that you are holding quality.
The LCD screen is bright. Viewfinder is bright. Menus were in Germen but the rep told it’s almost a D100.
The lens look very nice for that price. We were talking and one person took a shot and they print it on A3. The photo was excellent and he told me that the lens is excellent.
The rep told me the sensor is better than D100 is an upgraded one.
I didn’t ask anything about the image quality because there are lots of picks flying on the net, but, I prefer to hear something about the image quality from “Steve”……
What else can I say… I think it’s the best entry level dSLR for now. And it’s for us, who want to grow with. I think Nikon did a nice job for us.
I’m not a “Master” pro like Steve Sanders or Phill Askey or Thom Hogan,’ this is my poor hands on review that I can share with you……
Steve, please be quick everybody is looking forward for your full review……

Definitely sounds like it is going to be a nice camera. I'm very anxious to see some reviews as well. Based on what we've all seen and heard so far, do any of you have ideas on how fast of a CF card I should buy. I want to buy Lexar because I hear good things about them and they have speeds from 12x to 40x. I'm thinking about buying a 40x, but then again would like to save a bit if the camera cannot handle it. Any ideas?

Thanks for the input.

They told me to use fast cards:

Lexar 40X or San Disk Ultra II
