In "some forums" huh? Gee, let me guess -- DP Review's Forums by any chance? Those morons aren't happy with any camera ever made so far and probably never will actually own anything. In the meantime, those of that are wise will buy the best of what's out there, use it and enjoy it

So far the D70 looks great to me. Full review coming soon.

My D70 just came in yesterday; yes it's very early for me to say with absolute certainty that I just love the camera .... but so far, 1st impressions, I do love it and don't have any problems. I've taken about 150 pictures. None of them show moire. I tested for the color shift and I might have it a bit ... not sure ... I need to re-test b/c the sun was flaring on my lens as a portion of the sun was in my lens. Any case, even if a color shift dose exist, my experience so far has been that you won't see it in your day to day pictures. If anyone has any questions for me about the camera or wish for me to test anything, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Default Congs........

Dear mdparker,

I'm very happy for you that you get your camera and take 150 pictures without problems and no moire.
The color shift is very little as you say and not a big problem.
That can be fixed with a Firmware update I think.
Good news for me, because, I allready bought 2 extra EN EL3
and 3 San Disk Ultra II 512MB CF. :?
I ordered the D70 Kit too but they don't know when it will arrive.

1. Did you buy it whit the Kit Lens? (18-70DX)

Again be happy with you new cam.........................

Yes, I bought it as a kit. So far the lens is performing nice. I want to do a few additional. tests and I definitely am anxioulsy waiting some reviews .... but I guess all that really matters in the end is that you like what you see.

Battery life on my camera is really good so far. I've taken a large # of pictures with the internal flash and the battery meter still shows an excellent charge.

Default Got my new N70

Could not resist to share my good news.
I have picked my new D70 (edited) at my local (and best store in town)
After 20+ years of Canon Only SLRs this Nikon feels so right that after one evening I feel like I have know it all my life.
it is my ergonimic dream come true.
Cannot wait to do some serious shooting.
I agree with Steve about "serious" reviews.

Aside from Steve's the only other review I truely trust are "Chasseur D'Image" unfortunately only in French.

Yeah, I'm sure I will.. eventually...

I've been fiddling around with my sister's Pentax SLR, which is all well and good.. getting practice with a camera of that size, with lots of glass.. but I take a shot and I want to see now whether or not it's any good..

I posted the first group of D70 sample pics today, so far I don't see any serious problems with the images. Just remember this is a $999 dSLR - it isn't a replacement for the D1X.

Just had a look at what the D1X is, and yeah.. not expecting it to be a replacement for that... I would hope that it is a significantly better camera than my Kodak DX6340... doesn't seem like i'm going to have anyone argueing against that though...
