Bar none, I think your reviews are the best. I looked at some other make shift reviews on the D70, while waiting for you to post one, and none of them can even touch this.

The camera really looks like it is shaping up nicely too.

Thanks for the information Steve. It is much appreciated.

Default D 70 first look.....

Yesssssssss..............that's what I was waiting for.....

I think soon we will read your full review.

D 70 looks very good. :P

In some forums the people are talking about moire problem in some picks and noise in blue sky pictures. Can you please check and write about them.

I have checked the 1DMK II and it has noise in blue sky too. I think Chips have a problem with blue colors...

mdparker.... I'm agree with you...not %100 but % 1000

One reviewer I stumbled across said the D70 tended to underexpose in Program mode. It will be interesting to learn if Steve has this same experience.

I notice steve has said that the camera is USB1.1.. I was under the impression that it was 2.0 compliant.. can anyone else comment on this?

I held one of these in my hands a few days ago...

At first I saw review sites that the builtin usb was 2.0, but they retracted it and said it was 1.1. Personally, I con't care. Although you can controll your camera through it, the biggest use most people will use it for is to grab picutures. I have a external card reader (they cost very little) so I'll only use the builtin connector for the rare time I might want to control my camera via my computer.

I confess to only just skimming over the review, but does this ship with memory, and if so, how much? I've got an old microdrive (340MB, I think) but Steve's review makes it sound like this won't go very far.

If it ships with memory, it is most likely only 16MB ... they might as well keep that. Your 340MB might be fine for day to day shooting if you don't shoot hugh amounts in one day since you would be able to get at least 100 shots at jpg fine. If you shoot in nothing but raw though, I'd defininitely get another card as each raw is ~5MB

Most DSLR's do not ship with a memory card and the D70 is no different. From Nikon's website:

Supplied Accessories: Strap, Body cap, Eyepiece cap, LCD monitor cover, Video cable, USB cable, Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL3, Quick Charger MH-18, PictureProject CD-ROM, CR2 Battery Holder MS-D70

It does, however, support both CF cards type 1 and 2.

Dear Steve,

In some forums the new owners of D70, they are complaining about noise, moire and color shifting problems.
Especially at ISO 200 shutter 1/2000 - 1/8000 there is a realy serious problem as they say.
Can a firmware update can fix that problems ?
Can you give information about these isues in your full review.

Thanks.............

I'm going to wait littlebit more to buy D70.
