Default Cycling and field hockey with 85mmf1.8 + D800

Took the D800 + 85G f1.8 down to the Hockey and velodrome to see how the two coped with some fast moving action.

First 3 pics are cropped, while the 4th is uncropped and shot as 5 x 4.

2. Cycling at the velodrome

Still a lot to learn with how the D800 focuses and to use it for action. The 85's pretty good AF wise and esp if your not too far from the action. Def need more reach esp for the field hockey but I already knew that. The 180 F2.8 looks to be next on the shopping list - but at a later date !

It's hard to tell from the reduced resolution versions you posted here, but I'd say the focus is fine.

I'd add that you might try a slower shutter speed, in order to get a little motion blur in your sports/action shots. (The shots you posted don't have any Exif data available, so there's no way to tell what settings you used.)
