Default Curves Question for a newbie ??

I am considering purchasing the Nikon D70. I am new to dSLR and my only digital photography experience was 6 months with the Olympus C-5050 which I enjoyed (great pics). My biggest issue (or maybe fear) with the D70 are curves. What are these? Can I take great JPEGs without the use of curves (or post-processing). Most of my pics will be people (indoor with the SB-800 and outdoor) and I want realistic flesh tones.

Since you are new to SLRs you should forget the curves for the moment.

Curves are color profiles. You can make your own favorite color profile if you i.e. think that D70 underexpose or things like that. But learn all about the camera before even thinking of this.
