I also have the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D lens. I debated hard between it and the f/1.4 but really could not justify the additional $130 for 1/2 stop. I really don't think that I will ever be in a situation that I will find myself wishing for the extra 1/2 stop of the 1.4

I really cannot wait to try out the 50mm for indoor portraits of my wife, 5-year old, and newborn (in December) with my SB-800. I just have not had the time. That and I want to get a couple of the 8x16 collapsible muslin backgrounds that B&H has; at only $130 when 10x20 can be $30-40 more, who can argue.
