Default Does D100 work with 2 gb microdrive?

What I think I know.
D100 works with 320 mb drive - not on Nikon's list but I've used mine a lot.
4 gb drive is FAT32 - D100 FAT (FAT16) - so won't work.
2 gb drive is FAT16 - Will it work or not? Nikon won't say !!!

FAT16 vs. FAT32 should be a function of the formatting in the camera and not a function of the physical drive. From what I've read, 4gb drive should work but are very expensive and slow.

The literature on the MD says it is formated FAT32.
Did you have to reformat it to FAT16 in a PC.
Nikon's answer so far is that the D100 is FAT16 and can't read FAT32. Also the Nikon Rep for my camera store says the D100 can't read over 1 gb on any media. 405 shots at 9 meg = 3645 mb. This looks about right for the 4 gb drive! Also while Win 98se and lower can't read NTFS they can read FAT 32 so Nikon's statement doen't make any sense!

No i formated with the camerea, but i have a cf reader conected to my usb port, so i checked the properties on the card, by right clicking on the letter drive and it shows the type of format as fat 32, as i said before i did not formated in the computer, so maybe its got something to do with my d100 being firmaware 2.00, i also remember before i was reading all the reviews to0 buy the camera, that steve's said that he used the 4gb md with the d100 without any problems

The D100 supports FAT32 and any size CF available:

Quote:
For cameras that support FAT32 and whose built-in formatters utilize a 4K cluster size, we've reported write speed results with both 4K and 32K cluster sizes. These cameras are:

Canon EOS Digital Rebel/300D
Canon EOS 10D
Canon EOS-1Ds
Nikon D100

Note: The D100 will reformat a larger-than-2GB card that is already FAT32 with a 32K cluster size as FAT32 with a 32K cluster size, but will not reformat a FAT32 with 4K cluster size card as FAT32 with a 32K cluster size.
That's from Rob Galbraith's CF Database article: http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/con...id=7-6453-6837
