Default Wiser Investment ?

I would like your opinion on the following situation. If you had some extra cash and owned the Nikon D70 with the 18-70mm lens kit (plus: Nikon 50mm lens, Nikon 24-120mm VR lens, Tamron 28-300mm lens, Nikon SB-800 flash, SanDisk Extreme 1GB CF), Would you invest in a Nikon AF-S DX 12-24mm ED lens or get a second excellent point-n-shoot digicam like the Olympus C-8080WZ for your spouse? The reason I'm asking is because my wife is now using the Canon S-400 which she loves due to its size but I have a young daughter with green-hazle eyes and she always gets red-eyes with the S-400. I also noticed that flesh tones are off (pink-red). Therefore, her pics require lots of post-production work. Therefore which option would you choose:

1. Stick to post-production on the S-400 and get the 12-24 DX lens.

2. Forget about the 12-24 DX lens, use the lens kit on the D70 and get the C-8080WZ.
