So I just got my d70 this past week- and when I shake it slighty, I hear a faint rattling sound - almost like some sort of spring that's loose or something. Am I being paranoid or what? Should I call Nikon and see if something's wrong??

If anyone has any answers, I'll really appreciate it!!

Orientation sensor, most likely.

If it's anything like my canon 300d then it's the little metal hinges that hold the popup flash. Open the built in flash and look at the little lever type hinges, you'll probably find that they are quite loosely fitted. That's what rattles on my canonanyway.:-)

As Onyx said, it's the orientation sensor.

The Canon also has a orientation sensor, but it ain't that that rattles. Perhaps Nikon use ball bearings or something to act has the sensor.:P

Just kidding guys.

Totally wrong mf_blues! They use a very heavy wrecking ball for the orientation sensor. Haven't you noticed that Nikon people have bigger biceps???:lol:
