I would like to capture images on Nikon D70 and download under full
computer control. I am aware that Nikon has a remote control software,
but I want to control the camera under software control with no human

Does anyone know if there is API that I can use in my own software?
Has anyone done this before?

Any help will be appreciated.

Capture Camera Control has the ability to be controlled by the software for Time Lapse photography. It will still require some human intervention to setup the parameters, but after that it is up to the software.

Thanks for the reply. I think I need to explain a bit more about my need.

I am writing my own software that should be able to make the camera to capture an image, then download the image into the computer, then the software analyzes the image, and based on the quality of the image may change the settings on the camera and capture another image and so on.

This process is not based on a fixed time (ie time lapse is no good), it is based on other triggers that the computer receives such as a change of light sensed by a light sensor etc.

Therefore I need to be able to make funcion calls in my software that can achieve the above. In other words the user interface of the Nikon software which is designed for people clicking on buttons and using menu items is no good to me.

I hope this makes a bit clearer.

Any further thoughts and help will be greatly appreciated
