Any suggestions on a safe cleaning product for the CCD sensor on a D70.

Propellant or cleaning solution with swab?

I don't think a propellant will do.

Also, Is a 50mm fast lens a good choice for a DSLR or is the picture angle too tight for most situations. (31.3 degvs 46 deg for a film SLR)

A Nikkor 35mm lens only goes down to F2. Any faster options or recommendations.

Thanks

Steve

You can do it yourself with Eclipse solution and sensor swabs, but I haven't yet gathered the nerve to do it myself. I live nearby Nikon in Melville, so a sensor cleaning is just a free 10 minute proposition for me. Avoid compressed air cans at all costs, they will only worsen your dust problem.

As for a lens, 50mm is a good start, but for more creative options you may want either more prime lenses or a zoom lens. Since your DSLR can boost ISO fairly well before noise becomes an issue, a fast lens is not an absolute necessity. Unless you shoot mainly in available light, I'd say f/2-2.8 is fast enough.

Eclipse and pec pads for me too. Sensor swabs at $4 a stick is way rich for my tastes.
