Can someone please tell me more about Nikon Capture? What does it do for $99 that Paint Shop Pro doesn't? Would it be worth spending $99 on it?

Thank you

More tweaking options when shooting raw.

DEE (shadows enhancement), setting white balance by temperature point, the ability to edit and upload custom tone curves to camera (very useful IMHO).

If you're already happily using a Nikon DSLR with Paint Shop Pro, and are quite satisfied with your pictures and aren't yearning for anything more, then that $99 is probably better off buying your groceries for the week or something...

Also Capture can do things like:

1. control your camera through your computer and save the files to the computer hard drive .... probably only good if you do lots of studio shots.

2. Nikon dust reference - use a special shot and capture can take dust out of your shots ... seems ok, but haven't used it much.

3. Batch convert raw files to jpg or tiff

If you don't shoot raw or you have a program that handles your raw files, then you don't need it.

I only have Elements and I like to take raw shots, so it works well for me.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 just announced. It should handle Raw files as well as other new features. Look here!

Available sometime in the Fall.

Thanks for the information. I didn't see where they offer an upgrade, but I hope they do. It sounds like this would be a good upgrade.
