I'm having a hard time deciding on a lens for my D70. Right now I'm using the inexpensive Nikon 28-100mm- but I'd really like to upgrade. I'm a graphic designer and I use my D70 to supplement alot of my work, but I find myself wanting to do alot of wide angle shots that the lens I have just can't provide. Right now, I'm looking at two nikon lenses: the DX 18-70mm and the wide angle 18-35mm. Is the DX lense really worth it? Are there any other lenses out there I should consider over these? I'm looking to get the widest angle possible with the best image quality, without breaking my bank account (I'm a poor art student!) If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it!!

If you can, wait a month. Tamron just announced at Photokina a new super-wide angle lens. 11-18mm f/4.5-5.6. It's optimised for APS-C sized sensors (like the DX Nikkors) and with the slow max aperture as such, I would expect it to be at a favourable price point.

There are also primes you might like to consider - 14mm, 20mm, etc. or if 18mm on a D70 is wide enough for you, there's no shortage of 18-70 or 18-35 lenses available.
