Here's a website selling the D70 kit, brand new,for $849.00, which includes all of the following:

D70, 18-70mm lens, Lexar 1GB 80X, Lexar 7-in-1, Nikon CF-D70 Semi-Soft Case, VidPro TT-300 Tripod, Deluxe 3pc Photo/Video Cleaning kit

http://www.newcamerashop.com/cgi-bin...ref=nikond70k1

That sounded way too cheap for all that, so I checked with resellerratings.com, and found that this website is not listed. That was the first warning sign. Then I read the store policies: they ship from a warehouse in Finnland, and they don't accept credit cards (only wire transfer). There were a lot of disclaimers in their store policy:

I wonder if this is one of those internet stores that pops up overnight and disappears a few weeks later? Max

[edit: in a related thread on google, someone says this:

I live in Oslo - the address does not exist. (Fridtjof Nansens
Plass is the square in front of Oslo's town all - and the highest
number is Fridtjof Nansens Plass 9. These people claim to
reside theit store is in number 17.

Btw. prices in Norway for photo equipment are much higher than in the
USA, even if you account for the local sales tax. It makes absolutely
no sense to "export" cameras from Norway to the US.

Hey, rsway:

I just checked the Nikon rebates website and found that a rebate check has been issued for my D70. (I sent my forms in around December 10th.)

So apparently there is no problem with buydig.com being an authorized Nikon dealer.

Best.

I just found a vendor "cordcamera" on ebay with about 10000 positive feedbacks,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...48713&rd=1

The camera is selling with buy it now for $1179 before the $200 rebate, making the effective cost to be $979, Shipping and Insurance is also included in the cost. I guess it is a good deal.

The auction contains: Nikon D70, 18-70 lens, Strap, Body cap, Eyepiece cap, LCD monitor cover, Video cable, USB cable, Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL3, Quick Charger MH-18, PictureProject CD-ROM, CR2 Battery Holder MS-D70, Manual, US Nikon warranty and FREE FEDEX overnight with insurance.

For that price ($1179) you can bypass eBay and get it direct from B&H. I've done business with them almost exclusively in film and video and photography for years. They're probably the largest and most respected retailer in the business.

I ordered the D70 kit for $969.99(after $200 rebate)from Etronics.com last Thursday and it came today, Monday:

http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=nikd70kit

I've ordered from Etronics before--a pair of Sony studio headphones and have had good luck. So far, so good with the D70, I just have to wait till tomorrow to get my CF card from newegg.com.

I bought mine from http://stores.ebay.com/Cameta-Digita...eNameZl2QQtZkm. This is the same place I got my N75 from. Call them, use your CC if you are afraid of PayPal. These guys are great.

No affiliation here, just happy.

I have also dealt with Cameta a few times. I find them very reliable and prompt.
