:|The new D70 is NOT called a D80. It is an interim model called the D75. Major changes include:

1. ability to mount non AF lenses while metering.

2. larger, brighterpentiprism.

3. a flexible screen like on prosumer fixed lens camera PLUS a setting that allows mirror lock up for previewing an image.

4. comes with 50 f1.4 D-portrait lens as an option instead of the current kit lens.

5. Built in 1 gig fast memory.

6. Pixel shift option to deal with motion.

Hi! Sounds like a wish list to me, or is this true?

Anyway if its a wish list , lets not forget, auto moire correction, Remote mechanical shutter release, Spare battery holder, and yeah IEEE 1394 connectivity if not 802.11.

But most important, lets hope Nikon is charitable enough to keep this new camera, as an entry level SLR camera and not prize it in the $ 3000 range.

Cheers, Brian

Don't forget that new Nikon lens being talked about. 14-400 zoom, f 1.8, excellent optics, light weight, AF-S, all for $400.

Nobody mentined the wideconverter that will make your 200mm f/2.8 into a 10mm f/2.8 rectilinear fish-eye (yes, no loss of light folks!). Not to mention that it will add AF-S and VR to lenses that do not have them

I couldn't find anything in the 2005 report about a D70 successor. I'm just about to buy a D70, unless a successor is coming soon

Anyone know?

Thanks!!

Do not worry about the successor...
anyway, the first half a year it will be just a heap of bugs.
Take D70!
