For the D70, which 50mm lens would you choose? Why?

Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f1.4D
Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f1.8D
Sigma 50mm f2.8 EX Macro 1:1

I own the Sigma 50mm and I'm pleased with the results.

I bought it because it was a lot cheaper than the Nikor 60mm Micro and I'm into macro photography. The sigma gives a 1:1 reproduction ratio. This means that you can take a photo of a subject the same size as the sensor in the camera and it will fill the picture. The two Nikor lens you mention don't have this extreme close focusing ability.

I have chosen the Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f1.8D for the F1.8 andthe incredible sharpness. Also, it is a real bargain.I love this lens...

Mostly everybody agree that the F1.4 is not worth the extra money.

The sigma will give you macro possibilities but it stops at F2.8.

Often, i shoot indoor sports andsometimes F2.8 is not fast enough.

Have fun...

Depends on what you need the lens for. As Nagasaki said, if you do macro the Sigma is probably your best bet. If you just need a regular lens, as Morris said the Nikon 1.8 is your best bet. Just keep in mind if doing sports the 1.8 isn't the fastest focusing lens around.

The Nikkor 50 1.4 is made of cheap plastic on the filter end and wears out. Get the 1.8 which is metal.

Does anyone have a photo taken with the D70 and the Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f1.8D which they could post? I'd appreciate it.
(Esp an outdoors one, but any would do)

Thanks, Roseha
